I am a periodontist and have been in practice since 1980. For many years, I had a very large referral practice. However, eleven years ago, I saw the trends in that were occurring and decided to research ways in which I could continue to make my practice flourish. I studied with some of the great marketing gurus, I worked with different strategies, and today am a primary care periodontist in every sense of the word. I was able to gradually transition therefore from a referral practice to a primary care practice concentrating on major reconstruction. It has and still is, a remarkable journey.
Today, my primary focus is on maintaining and increasing the success of periodontists. To this end, I have written two books, The Perio Dilemma...How to Thrive Now in 2014 and Advancing the Specialty Practice in 2018. I am working with practices all over the country with a webinar and teleseminar series to help other periodontists transform their practices as well as doing in office consulting and training. Our organization is the Institute for Dental Specialists (formerly the American Association of Independent Periodontists).
