District Town Halls – Taking Ownership of Your AAP Membership

District Town Halls provide unique opportunities for AAP members to meet with their Trustees virtually. They are a platform for members to engage directly with their District Trustees and have their opinions heard. During these meetings, members at the grassroots level can bring awareness of local legislation to their Trustees. This allows for deeper communication and intimate dialogues between members and Trustees, serving as the bridge that allows change to happen. District Town Halls typically take place twice a year in the Spring and Fall and are a direct example of how members can make a difference by getting involved. Past surveys show that members receive the most benefit when they share topics they want to be discussed at the Town Hall ahead of time. Contact your District Trustees with questions or comments to include in the next Town Hall!

The latest District Town Halls took place in Fall 2022 and led to successful initiatives and outcomes thanks to the proactive dialogues between members and Trustees. Based on Town Hall responses and member support, the Academy contributed $10,000 to the Massachusetts Dental Care Providers for Better Dental Benefits. 100% of survey responders agreed that the District Town Halls allowed them to connect with their District Trustees in a meaningful way, as well as to learn more about the AAP's recent activities and efforts. One attendee called the District Town Halls "a great way to share AAP communication with members in each district!"

This Spring, the District Town Halls are back! The Academy wants to hear directly from members on local initiatives, State and Regional updates including advocacy opportunities, and more.
