Dental Workshop Description 
This workshop will educate attendees about dental coding relevant to a periodontal practice. Content is intended for staff new to coding and/or reimbursement for periodontal procedures. This course will identify the typical procedure codes submitted in conjunction with treatment provided by the periodontist. Participants will receive a handout of information to be covered in the presentation.

Educational Objectives 
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Apply American Dental Association CDT 2022 codes properly for dental insurance submission
  • Identify what procedure codes need documentation and attachments when submitting claims
  • Review through designated Q&A session

The American Academy of Periodontology designates this activity for 2.75 continuing education credits.

The AAP cautions participants for this CE activity about the potential risks of using limited knowledge when incorporating new techniques and procedures in their practice.

Medical Workshop Description 
This session will focus on submission of dental procedures to medical insurance. There will be an overview of CPT (medical procedure codes) and ICD-10-CM (diagnosis codes), related to periodontal procedures submitted to medical insurance. Attendees will also receive a handout of the presentation.

Educational Objectives 
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the basic structure of medical coding and recognize appropriate indications for submitting to medical insurance
  • Review the new CMS -1500 Medical claim form
  • Implement ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes into medical insurance
  • Review through designated Q&A session
